Bridget Jones's diary - Helen Fielding
A very funny story about life of a single woman . All her thoughts lead to how to find a right man. Everyday is a struggle against herself not to
- drink too much
- smoke too much
- eat too much
(just to break it later) :))
With bunch of hilarious details which are so REAL about a woman: how changeable her mind is; how desperate and dreamy she is in a relationship; how happy she's when she thinks she's got pregnant; conversations w/ her close friends about men and feminism..
(I cant help wondering if I'm like her when my thirty-ness is nearby)
P/S: I guess Helen Fielding is too interested in or too obessed w/ Pride and Prejudice and b/c of many similarities in this book and the Jane Austen's: 2 Mr. Darcy and their characters, noisy mothers; Bridget - Elizabeth: both are very smart and sharp; and even the crime related in the 2 stories. Anyway, HF's created her own style which is also impressive and intelligent. The readers cant do anything but stay, laugh and read right from the beginning to the end.
